Massachusetts-based readers who are fans of Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas may have heard about their recent decision to divorce. According to People magazine, this divorce may be worth around $50 million, and the couple also shares a child who has just left high school. Their divorce comes after 18 years of marriage, according to the news.
No matter when a divorce takes place or how amicable it may be, it can still be a tiring and difficult time emotionally and physically. In this case, Griffith has filed for divorce and is asking for child support, sole physical and joint legal custody of the couple’s 17-year-old daughter and spousal support.
According to People magazine, as far as the couple’s assets go, Banderas and Griffith are still acting in their particular interests in Hollywood, including a TV series and movies such as “Shrek.” Additionally, Banderas allegedly has real estate investments in Los Angeles and Miami, as well as overseas. He also reportedly has a number of restaurants around the world. Griffith and Banderas also have multiple homes, with some in New York City, Los Angeles, Aspen and Spain.
Those close to the pair have reportedly said that the divorce is not due to financial issues, according to People magazine. The couple has been together for nearly 20 years, though, so dividing their assets may not be as simple as with younger marriages. This is allegedly Griffith’s fourth divorce and Banderas’s second. Because of their child’s involvement, this case could end up in family court, since it does involve family law.
