If you’re concerned about getting enough child support or having to pay too much child support in Massachusetts, it’s wise to consider your options before heading to court. There may be a way to settle on an amount that is fair to your child and yourself without having to get a judge to rule on it.
If you think your child support is high, take a look at the bill Halle Berry will have to pay each month according to this June 10 report. She was allegedly part of a lawsuit with her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, and now she’s expected to pay $16,000 per month in child support. That amount is supposedly going to go to her 6-year-old daughter each month to support her until she turns 19 years old or graduates from high school.
The 47-year-old actress gave birth to her little girl in 2008 and split with her now ex-boyfriend in April 2010. Together, they reached an agreement for custody in September 2012 after a fallout between Berry’s husband and ex. Now, the couple shares custody of their daughter. There is no talk about whether Berry will argue with the high amount of child support or if this was a negotiated settlement.
On top of the money Berry has to pay for child support, she’s also expected to pay for her daughter’s schooling. She will be able to split the bill for her child’s health care with her ex. Prior to this arrangement, Berry had wanted to take her daughter to France to live, but a United States judge blocked the request. Berry and her husband now live with their eight-month-old son, which is why they may have wanted their daughter with them as well.
