Many people envy the lives of the wealthy. The seemingly non-stop stream of cash and the glamorous lifestyle is something to which many people aspire. However, the wealthy have just as many problems as the middle and lower classes and are affected by some of the same problems. People across the nation, including in Massachusetts, were shocked to hear the news of the impending divorce of Google co-founder Sergey Brin and his wife of six years, Anne Wojcicki.
The technology world, which some people count Brin and Wojcicki to almost be royalty of, was shocked to hear the news of the divorce. However, a spokesperson for the couple stated that the pair remains friends, but have lived separately for the last few months. The couple has two children together.
After the split was initially announced, many people wondered how the divorce would affect Google as a company. In addition to Google, Brin has also invested in Wojcicki’s company, 23andme. Overall, Brin ‘s fortune is estimated to be as high as $24 billion. Sources close to the couple claim that they have a prenuptial agreement in place, meaning Google will likely remain untouched as a result of the divorce.
While the prenuptial agreement will hopefully ease the divorce process for them, it is still an emotionally trying time. As they go forward, they will have to decide on child support and custody as well as work out agreements on the various charities and philanthropic activities they participate in together. Anyone in Massachusetts who has been through a divorce can likely sympathize with the emotions the former couple will likely experience as they finalize this chapter of their lives.
