Massachusetts celebrity news fans may be interested to hear that Dennis Quaid has recently filed for divorce from his third wife. The filing follows a back-and-forth separation and divorce process that the couple has been going through since early this year. The couple has 4-year-old twins.
Dennis and Kimberly Quaid married in 2004 and this is the third marriage and divorce for Quaid. Reports indicate that Quaid’s wife Kimberly filed for divorce in March but retracted the filing in April. Later, only six weeks prior to the November divorce filing, she filed for legal separation.
Quaid reportedly filed the most recent petition, and is seeking joint custody of their twins. In addition, the petition states that Quaid is willing to pay spousal support to his soon-to-be ex-wife. No word has been released on whether the couple has a prenuptial agreement. This story, unlike many celebrity stories, does not appear to be dramatic or contentious, at least at this time.
While many Massachusetts couples may be interested in the relationship status of celebrities, few likely want to follow their example. Often, the high value and complexity of the celebrities’ assets causes tension and drama during the divorce. However, it is not only celebrities who find themselves in tense situations during divorce. Challenging circumstances can happen to any couple.
When couples decide that divorce is the best option for them, it may benefit them to carefully consider the individual needs of their family. Divorce can be emotionally taxing on everyone, especially when children are involved. When a couple’s situation becomes tense, they may benefit from the aid of an objective third party who can help them determine their best course of action.
