Influenced by the expeditious American wedding, a man has introduced the idea of a divorce hotel, a way for couples to quickly resolve their divorce issues over the course of a weekend. The idea behind the divorce hotel is to provide couples who are planning on divorcing an intensive weekend that is geared toward finalizing a divorce by the time they check out on Sunday.
Through meetings with attorneys, mediators, notaries and psychologists, the couple will supposedly be able to conclude all matters necessary for the divorce and, if successful, the parties can leave the hotel with divorce paperwork completed.
It has been noted that the divorce hotel idea has been effective in other countries. The results reported so far were that 17 couples had used the divorce hotel approach, and all but one couple was able to resolve their divorces over the weekend. The creator of the divorce hotel has stated that he plans to develop the concept in the United States in a fashion that would allow it to resolve divorces at a cost that would vary between $2,500 and $10,000 per couple.
The basis behind any successful divorce ensuring that the parties are able to cooperate in a fashion that will allow them both to move on to new lives with as little difficulty as possible. Although ideas such as the divorce hotel may be appealing to Massachusetts couples who are looking to dissolve their marriage, there is no substantive data currently available to determine whether this is a viable option. Often divorces are too complex to be sorted through in one weekend, but speaking to an experienced legal professional may be helpful in determining what the best options for you are.
