Successful Defense of OUI Charges
Despite what you may have heard, a successful defense of a drunk driving charge is possible. For example, the police may not have had reasonable cause to stop your vehicle. The field sobriety test may have been conducted improperly. The breath machine at the station may have returned erroneous results or the operator may have made a mistake. These and other aspects of your case may provide the means for a successful defense.

Negotiating an Outcome
In some cases, it may make sense to seek a negotiated result. A first time offender may be able to obtain a CWOF outcome — meaning that the case is "continued without finding". As long as you complete the 24 D alcohol education program and stay out of trouble, you can avoid a conviction and receive mitigated penalties, including the possibility of a hardship driver's license.
